Meet Ryder…

Ryder was found dumped along the side of a road in Southwest Florida—severely underweight, unable to walk, and near death.

When Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida learned about Ryder, they immediately stepped in and brought him into their care. He was placed in a loving foster home, where the true extent of his condition began to unfold.

Veterinarians believe Ryder spent much of his life confined to a crate or cage that was far too small for him. As a result, his body developed in a hunched position, and prolonged confinement likely caused neuromuscular damage.

His foster family has gone above and beyond—taking Ryder to specialists, physical therapy, hydrotherapy, and other treatments to determine the cause of his weakness and help him gain as much mobility and comfort as possible.

Despite everything he has endured, Ryder’s spirit remains unbroken. He has an extraordinary temperament and a deep love for people, children, and other animals. Ryder has the perfect disposition to become a therapy dog for children—a goal that could give his life an incredible sense of purpose.

Ryder’s journey has touched hearts and inspired people across the country. However, his needs are significant, and the cost of ongoing specialist care and therapies is substantial. With continued support, Ryder can keep moving forward—toward comfort, joy, and a future where he helps heal others, just as he has inspired so many already.
